Brian Garvey is a Carlow artist. He has a B.A. in Fine Art from N.C.A.D. and an M.A. in Philosophy from U.C.D. He has been an invited artist and prizewinner at Eigse. He has been nominated for a Norwegian Post Graduate Scholarship (For Painting)- 5 months residency at The Academy of Fine Arts Oslo.

He has also been awarded a bursary from Carlow County Council 2000 for a project on ' the meeting point between public and private space'. In the case of these works 'the body and more particularly the flesh can be either public of private depending on context and more especially how, again depending on context, the body disrupts the division or at least blurs its boundary'
