Philippa Sutherland graduated with a Masters from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin in 2004. She had previously studied at St. Andrews and Central St. Martins school of Art, London. She works as a visiting lecturer in Limerick School of Art and Design, NCAD and Dansmark Designskole in Copenhagen.
Philippa’s work is concerned with ‘how we construct meaning and project our own imagined interpretation onto unreliable visual evidence’.
Philippa had a solo show in The Mermaid arts centre in Bray running from the 20th January. She has a solo show in the Tallaght Arts Centre in June 2006
Her first solo show 'uncertain ground 'was at the Ashford Gallery at the R.H.A.in 2005- reviewed by Aidan Dunne, Irish Times, July 13th 2005. She was involved in 'From Landscape',curated by Jim Savage at the Mermaid gallery in Bray and has since had a solo show 'Accidents of Desire' there in Jan/Feb 2006. She first showed in the Paul Kane Gallery in the small group show 'New' in January 2006.
